Breed for type, quality, conformation & movement
The colour is immaterial - the result is the important part of success
Pferde Stud is a very well respected name for breeding, producing and showing a number of different types of young horses.
Darren Blanchard and Karen Smyth began breeding horses in 1992 with the aim of producing horses of a quality and standard that would excel in any equestrian discipline. Their dynamism has achieved results far beyond that of many other breeders, leading them to win both National and International class events.
We pride ourselves on our knowledge, gained over many years of working with both breeders and riders from around the world. Our expertise has led us to improve a horse's qualities as well as to be open enough to listen to our clients and deliver what they require.
Darren and Karen have been producing Champion horses since the very first foals born by the outstanding stallion Allbany. During this time Pferde Stud has won numerous Championship titles including:
- Supreme Champion of Champions title twice at the World of Colour Championships
- Supreme Champion of Champions title at the International Coloured Championships
- The World achievement award from the USA society SHOC International

Show production
Show horses at Pferde Stud are produced in a way that brings out the very best qualities of each member.
"Pferde" means horse and that is what we have a selection of: high class young stock for many different disciplines in a wide range of colours, included in this are many colts and fillies sent to Pferde Stud for assessment and showing.

The Pferde Stud show team competes all over the UK at many of the very best County Shows available. The team's strength is built on quality, type and movement. Below are just some of the results so far:
We show horses for clients in hand, from yearlings to 4-yr olds, preparing them for grading and assessment. We believe in offering our clients an honest opinion without falsely raising hopes. If a horse is of good quality and shows potential, we naturally endeavour to work hard towards making a winner of it. If we should consider a horse to be unsuitable, we prefer to explain the reasons why we would not be prepared to show the horse. We also have livery clients competing from Riding Club level to Advanced, including ridden coloured horses, and we cater for young riders too. |
