Foaling your mare

Below is a short film showing a maiden mare trying to foal a large strong foal that has its front leg locked by its elbow not a problem but without backup and support from Darren the mare would have been left in a very painful and stressful foaling that could have ripped her badly
We would like to thank Avril and Steve for catching the whole process on film from our CCTV screen by his mobile phone and allowing everybody the oppertunity of seeing a foal being born

We welcome visiting mares for foaling by our own stallions or your chosen sire

We Offer a 24hr supervision service with years of experience in foaling

Mares to arrive 2 weeks before the foaling date stabled in large foaling areas 15 x 17 or 15 x 34 depending on size of mare

24hr CCTV with over night watch, during the day mares are grazed in paddocks directly in view of the main yard.

During the process owners are welcome to visit as and when they feel the need we always welcome nervous mums with tea or coffee and are more than happy to take time to answer any questions you may have as we understand this is not only a very exciting time but also many owners are very nervous.

You are invited to stay at the stud nearer the foaling time joining us watching the cameras this has proved to be very popular with customers who would love to see the birth if possible

With the main veterinary practice only 3 miles away reaction time is minimal if required, each new born foal is checked within 24hrs for health and are given anti toxin and tetanus injection for prevention

We like the mare and foal to remain on the stud for 7 to 10 days before collection during this time we introduce foal slips and are confident that both mother and baby are healthy and relaxed being turned out daily before leaving during this time proud parents are more than welcome to visit every day to feel part of the whole process

Prices for our service

Foaling and night watch charge is 180 pounds to be paid on arrival
Livery for the mare is £9 pounds a day inside after 14 -21 days we can turn out with other mares at £5 a day during her time at stud with no extra charge for your new foal (at the mare owners risk)
